In January 2008, the Board of Dentistry rules on how to become a registered dental assistant changed. To become registered, now one needs to call the Board of Dentistry (615-532-5073) or log on to their Web site and download the necessary forms, complete and return them along with a valid health care provider CPR card. You will no longer have to take a dental assistant course or pass a State Board exam to become registered. However, you will need to take an approved radiology course (and pass the final exam) to receive your radiology certification. Without your radiology certification you CAN NOT take x-rays. To take the radiology course, you MUST be a registered assistant. The Nashville Dental Society will be having a radiology course later this year. Once we have a confirmed date, we will post it on this Web site.
